As part of our Spring Term Topic of ‘Animals’ and ‘Cold and Hot places’, Year 1 went on a school trip to Bristol Zoo! Before heading to the workshop, they saw some amazing African penguins and seals. At the workshop, the children met a Polar Explorer lady who took them into a room full of artefacts and animal fur. They also saw different animal body parts such as a Walrus’ tusks, a Narwhals’ tooth and a real, preserved polar bear who died at the zoo. After that they watched a video about Emperor penguins and enjoyed imitating how to look after their eggs in the freezing Antarctic weather. After eating their lunch, the children went to see many other animals including lions, gorillas, monkeys, flamingos etc.
Year 1 had great fun watching all of the animals, especially the gorillas and monkeys who were very amusing!
