Crowning of Mary:
In May we dedicate the month to Our Lady, Mary. We begin with a special assembly in the school hall where we remember her and significant events in her life crown a small statue of Mary. The whole school then processes to our prayer garden, recently blessed by the Bishop, and on to the Church garden where we gather together for a short reflection and lay flowers at the Our Lady statue.
Year 1 lead us in our special Pentecost Mass. They love to dance as they act out the Holy Spirit coming to the disciples.
First Holy Communion:
Our pupils prepare for their Holy Communion in their different parishes, Our Lady, Sacred Heart and St Anthony's and these take place in May or June. The school choir sings at the Our Lady of the Rosary Holy Communion Mass and teachers attend the other Parish celebrations.
Afterwards we have a special Class Mass for Year 3 where the pupils may wear their Holy Communion dresses and suits. They invite Year 2 to this Mass and share their journey towards the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Year 3 lead us in this special celebration and share with us the meaning of their Holy Communion.
We have whole school adoration to celebrate the feast day.
Feast of St Peter and Paul
Our Year 6 lead us in this Mass and we remember how special they are and the foundations we have given them as they prepare for secondary school.
