Reading
Each child will receive four reading books a week which are suited to their ability. Please hear your child read daily for 10 minutes and record this in their reading record. They are given certificates for the amount of nights that they have read. Their books will be changed twice a week depending on which House they are in. Please make sure your child’s reading folder is in their book bag every day.
St Mark and St Matthew books will be changed on a Monday and a Thursday.
St Luke and St John books will be changed on a Tuesday and a Friday.
Each child will also receive a sound book and handwriting sheets to practice their sounds and letter formation. They have red tricky words which are words that cannot be sounded out and must be learnt by sight. They handed out gradually by sets:
