ATTENDANCE:

The school has a high expectation of attendance in school in line with statutory regulation.  Our Attendance Lead is Mrs J Stone and she will liaise with parents to support their child's attendance at school.

Please read the procedures and action plan.

Attendance for the past four years:

Year                                                             2013/2014           2015/2016          2016/2017      2017/2018

Attendance (OLOR)                                     96.1%                    95.9%                   95.6%              95.4%

Attendance (Bristol Primary Schools)     95.6%                    95.2%                   95.2%

Attendance (England Primary Schools)  95.6%                   96.0%                    96.1%

The school tackles persistent absence rigorously and uses outside agencies to support in getting children into school when they have low attendance.

It is rare for the school to grant planned absence in term time.  At times of family difficulties, then the discretion of the headteacher can be used to authorise absence from school.  All parents should complete a form and will be then asked to meet with the Headteacher to discuss their planned absence.

The school also follows the Local Authority guidance for penalty notices.

We contact parents on the first day of absence from school.  Whilst we accept that children can be unwell and unable to attend school, we reserve the right to ask for evidence of doctor’s visits, dentists’ visits and actual illness in cases where pupils have repeated absence from school.

Our aim is to work closely with families to ensure that all children have the best possible chance to be in school and to succeed.
