Learning at home can be challenging for both children and parents. Clear communication about what the school will provide, and what will be expected of pupils, helps ensure that remote learning is as effective and positive as possible.

Please note that a pupil's first day or two of remote education may look different from our usual approach while staff make the necessary preparations for a longer period of home learning.

What should my child expect during the first day or two of remote education?

During the initial days of remote learning, teachers will prepare and organise the full remote learning provision.

In the meantime, pupils will be provided with:

• Printed workbooks to take home or collect from school, where appropriate.
• Online versions of learning materials where this is more suitable.
• Independent learning activities that can be completed whilst longer-term arrangements are being put in place.

Will my child be taught the same curriculum as they would receive in school?

Yes. We aim to teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible.

However, some adaptations may be necessary to ensure learning can be delivered effectively in a home environment. For example, elements of our Music curriculum may be delivered through online resources and activities.

How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?

We expect that remote education, including both teacher-directed learning and independent activities, will take pupils approximately the following amount of time each day:

Accessing Remote Education

How will my child access online learning?

At Our Lady of the Rosary, we use ClassDojo as our primary online learning platform.

What if my child does not have suitable online access at home?

We recognise that some families may experience difficulties accessing online learning. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils can participate in remote education and can provide support in the following ways:

• Device loans: We have laptops and tablets available for loan to families who need them.
• Internet support: We can provide assistance where internet access is a barrier to learning.
• Printed learning materials: If online access is not available, printed resources can be provided.
• Submitting completed work: If you are unable to submit work online, please contact the school office so that alternative arrangements can be made.
