Technology is a really exciting and powerful tool. We can use to learn, play, investigate and have fun, however it is really important to know how to use it safely.
The UK Safer Internet Centre has produced some brilliant how-to guides for parents which show you how to change the safety/child-lock settings on smartphones, gaming devices and Ipads etc. You can find them by clicking on this link http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-and-resources/parents-and-carers/parents-guide-to-technology
In addition the Think U Know web pages provide excellent information for parents and pupils on how to use the Internet. Please use the links to find out more.

At Our Lady we also use Hector the Dolphin to help us to stay safe. If the child sees anything on the screen that they are unsure of, they click Hector and the screen goes blank.
We also send out Internet Rules and guidance on how to use Internet safely and securely. Please see our policy below for further guidance and reference.
The school has major concerns with any child at Primary School having a Facebook account as this breaks the terms and conditions of Facebook under "Registration and Account Security" article 5 - "You will not use Facebook if you are under 13".
Facebook does not provide extensive child security measures for minors because it is not aimed at very young children. Your child is potentially unsafe when using Facebook if they lie about their age to gain an account.
